Editorial portraits

Object Translations

For this independent series, I start with an object and draw from elements such as its color, shape, texture, or character, and translate that into a human-form editorial portrait. I develop a visual concept around it, then make choices about wardrobe, pose, framing, and light to carry that idea through to the finished image. Each group below shows the object that sparked the concept alongside the final portrait.

Concept

Set to a soft acoustic cover, the film follows a woman as she discovers and eventually accepts the unpredictable world inside her mind. It asks what may be happening behind someone’s eyes that others cannot see.

Creative Process

I originated the concept and invited Breana to co-create the work. Together, we developed the choreography and visual direction, exploring how movement could reveal the central character’s inner life.

Rehearsals and conversations with the visual team shape how the work translates to camera, from the choice of location to framing and camera movement.

Stage production

The Prince of Egypt

The Prince of Egypt brings its story to the stage through contemporary ballet, combining an ensemble of young dancers with professional guest artists.

As creator and director, I developed the production’s narrative and choreographed 23 of its 28 pieces. My direction extended across casting, music selection and editing, costumes, and makeup, with collaborative development of the set and lighting.

Shaping the Production

Movement, music, costumes, makeup, and the stage environment developed together around the story. I worked with collaborators on set and lighting ideas, shaping a shared visual direction for the production.

The throne, sandy backdrop, and opening scene shown below trace that process from reference images and early concepts to the finished stage.

I also guided the rehearsal process and coordinated the production’s evolving details with the studio and creative team.
